Nancy
We met through both volunteering in the Dogs Service at Crisis at Christmas in 2016. I was instantly bowled over by her strong energy, authenticity, warmth and humour.
During those days volunteering there were times and situations that were stressful, with a lot to do and then there were times where you had more of a chance to talk and get to know each other. During the latter, Ellie and I were both chatting away about a whole variety of things to do with dogs, people, experiences and life. I really really enjoyed her company and after Crisis at Christmas finished we stayed in touch over the following months. She was very busy studying for exams at the time but also hoping to find a good job working with animals once her exams were over and she had quite a lot of questions about applying for jobs working for animal charities which I was really happy to be able to help with.
We had been talking about meeting up for tea, biscuits, more talking and dog walking but we never managed to actually do it. If we had I think we would have been able to become close friends. I am and will always be so grateful for and marked by meeting Ellie just from the limited time I got to spend with her. Such a truly unique, wonderful, talented, zesty, beautiful and inspiring person and who I know made such a positive impact on me and on the other people and dogs she met and helped during Crisis at Christmas.
Thinking of her and all her loved ones with all my heart.
